We have had many students Graduate since 2008, yet none were offered the participation in a formal commencement ceremony. As of December 2015 the Board of Regents has committed to offering two formal Commencement Exercises each year. In 33 years, DDPS has grown into 5 beautiful campuses and is 9,000 students stronger. Our students come from all walks of life, and from around the world.
They are nurses, martial-arts experts, psychologists, truck drivers, marketers, writers, counselors, members of clergy, teachers. They are young, old, rich, poor, male, female. They are moms and dads, single parents, or single people. They are blue collar, white collar, employed, unemployed, and self employed.
They are ordinary people, and they are extraordinary people.

Seeking the Ox

Some of our students start somewhere near the beginning of the famous series of ten Ox-Herding Pictures. They are 'Seeking the Ox.'
They have experienced dukkha, the first of the Buddha's Four Noble Truths.
They understand that although life can be grand, beautiful, and joyful that it is also dissatisfying, stressful, and fraught with anxiety because of its ever-changing, impermanent nature.
In short, these students -- like many people -- found themselves asking, 'What's life all about?' and 'Why am I here?' These doubts about life, reality, and who they are (and how they fit into the world around them) became the impetus to seek the ox. Whether they knew it at the time or not, asking such questions was the first step toward discovering their true nature.
For them, the journey begins at Buddha Dharma University.

Entering the Marketplace

However, many of our students are at the place in their lives more near the end of the ten Ox-Herding Pictures than at the beginning.
They are 'Entering the Marketplace.'
This means they are returning to the world at large, with helping hands, seeking whom they may aid. The search for true nature is over. The need to ask the same kinds of questions they did in the beginning is done. The focus is no longer on self; it is on helping others.
For these students, Buddha Dharma University is where they may refine, and deepen their Buddhist practice.

Dharanidhar Autonomous College is a Government college in the district of Keonjhar in the Indian state of Odisha.^[3]

The college was established in 1957 as an intermediate science college and was granted affiliation by Utkal University. It began as Keonjhar Science College. It was initially headed by R. Venkatraman, IAS.

History[edit]

Funding for the main building of the college was donated by Muhammad Shrajuddin.^[4] The college was taken over by the Government of Odisha in 1962. On the opening of the college's humanities courses in 1967, it was renamed after Keonjhar College. It introduced an Hons at B.Sc. level in 1974.

During 1983–84, the institution was renamed after revolutionary Dharanidhar Naik.^{[citation needed]}

In 1999 the college affiliated^[5] with North Odisha University, at Baripada, in the adjoining district of Mayurbhanj.^[6]

Autonomous status was conferred to the college on 24 September 2004. It was accredited B++ by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) on 2 February 2006.

The college enrolls about 2300 undergraduates. It is the second-largest college in Odisha by accordance area.

Facilities[edit]

The college is equipped with laboratories, a central library, audio-visual labs and a playground.

Academics[edit]

Undergraduate courses include anthropology, botany, chemistry, commerce, computer science, English, economics, geology, history, mathematics, philosophy, physics, political science, and zoology as well as Oriya and Sanskrit.^[7]
